Business Resources from
the National Library of Scotland
The National Library of Scotland (NLS) is a reference library with world-class collections. NLS is Scotland's largest library and one of the major research libraries in Europe. The collections range from rare historical documents to online journals, covering every subject. They specialise in Scotland's knowledge, history and culture.
The National Library of Scotland’s business information service, SCOTBIS, has added one of the world’s most comprehensive sources of company data and analysis to what it already offers Scottish businesses. It is providing the only free access to this service anywhere in the UK.
The OneSource Global Business database provides information on more than 17 million companies worldwide, including almost three million in the UK. In addition, there is information on specific industries and company executives, together with news, reports and analysis.
This further enhances the SCOTBIS service which offers access to one of the largest collections of company and market data in the United Kingdom. It is already a key resource for Scotland’s business community and is completely free of charge to anyone resident in Scotland who registers as a reader of the National Library of Scotland (NLS).
The new OneSource database will allow Scottish companies to create their own personal business library at the click of a computer mouse. It will allow them to draw up financial profiles and compile targeted lists for mailshots. It will help in monitoring competitors and identifying potential new customers.
Further information on the SCOTBIS service and how to get access is available at http://scotbis.nls.uk/index.cfm.
