Funds for growing businesses
If you’re finding it hard to raise growth capital, the Scottish Investment Bank (SIB) could be the answer to realising your company’s growth ambitions.
SIB offers three different equity products – targeted at young high-growth enterprises.
The current products are:
-
the Scottish Seed Fund, which helps start-ups to launch new products and enter new markets
-
the Scottish Co-Investment Fund, which invests in young companies seeking to raise up to £2 million in growth capital
-
the Scottish Venture Fund, which invests in companies at development and expansion stage in deals of £2 million to £10 million.
Each of the equity funds follows a co-investment model, where the SIB matches any investment made by the private sector. The onus is on investment partners to bring investee companies to the table.
SIB is also the cornerstone investor in the recently launched Scottish Loan Fund (SLF). The fund has been created to provide loans of £250,000 to £5 million to established companies with growth or export potential.
Formally launched at the end of last year, SIB has a mission to support the development of Scotland’s private sector SME funding market, so that both early stage and established companies with growth and export potential have adequate access to growth capital.
At present Scottish businesses’ expansion plans are benefiting from SIB to the tune of around £30 million every year.
