Most Enterprising Business Award

Background

Introduced by the Association of Scottish Businesswomen (ASB) in 2003, entrants for this award, are selected and endorsed as the nomination by their affiliate groups. The award recognises the efforts of those members who have perhaps identified a niche market or moved the business in an entirely new direction, as well as those who are more recently established.

Eligibility

This award is open to affiliate members only and must be endorsed as the nomination of choice, by their affiliate group.

Entries for this award category are restricted to ONE entry, per affiliate club, per year.

Any nominated member can enter, regardless of the period of time they have been in business. 

Whilst the Award is made to a business entity, a woman must be the driving force behind the business.

If you won the Most Enterprising Business of the Year Award last year then you are not eligible to enter the category this year.‚Äč

Application process

The application should be submitted via the ASB website (see Awards Home Page for full application process).

Applications must be written and submitted by the business representative. 

Applicants will be asked to provide historical and forecast financial figures (in strict confidence) in support of their application. 

Applications should be accompanied by two endorsements/references plus a letter or statement of nomination from your affiliate group.

Criteria assessed (500 words max per criterion.)

  • Originality of new business idea and or boldness & creativity applied in expansion/diversification
  • Resourcefulness of the marketing strategy and business development activity
  • Innovative & imaginative communication and use of social media to promote business
  • A demonstrated ability to ride out and overcome challenges
  • Individual energy, pace and resilience applied

  • Closing date for entries is 5pm on Friday 28th June, 2019
  • Only online applications will be accepted.
  • Applicants are requested to upload a photo (individual or team) appropriate to the award applied for. This will only be used if selected as a finalist.
  • The shortlisted finalists will be asked to attend an interview with the judging panel, Haymarket, Edinburgh, during the w/c Monday 22nd July, 2019.
  • Finalists are required to attend the Awards Dinner on Saturday 14th September, National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh.
