Young Inspiring Businesswoman of the Year


Introduced in 2013, this award recognises the qualities of a successful entrepreneurial woman, in employment or in business, including but not limited to her drive, focus, vision and resilience, inspirational leadership and confidence.




Entrants must be aged 30 year or under, as at 31st May of the year of the awards.

This award is made to an individual, rather than to an organisation.

If you won the Young Inspiring Businesswoman of the Year Award last year then you are not eligible to enter this category, this year.​

Entry is free for affiliate members and ASB direct members, and costs £50 per entry for non-members.

Application process

The application should be submitted via the ASB website (see Awards Home Page for full application process).

Applicants will be asked to provide historical and forecast financial figures (in strict confidence) in support of their application. 

Applications MUST be accompanied by two endorsements/references (i.e. testimonial statement or letter)​.

Applications MUST include a photo of the applicant, suitable for use in the event the applicant is shortlisted as a finalist. 

Upload files must not exceed 1MB.

  • Name of Nominee (if application made by a third party)
  • Vision and effective leadership
  • Drive, determination & motivation
  • Strong commercial acumen evidenced by financial results
  • Identification of a market opportunity
  • Use of staff and resources
  • Adaptability to market conditions
  • Customer engagement

  • Open date for entries is 9am on Tuesday 30th April, 2019
  • Closing date for entries is Midnight on Sunday 30th June
  • Only online applications will be accepted.
  • Applicants are requested to upload a photo (individual or team) appropriate to the award applied for. This will only be used if selected as a finalist.
  • The shortlisted finalists will be asked to attend an interview with the judging panel, in Haymarket, Edinburgh, during the w/c Monday 22nd July, 2019.
  • Finalists are required to attend the Awards Dinner on Saturday 14th September, The Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.
