Mollie Hughes, adventurer - Women of Inspiration 2018

Being a young woman climbing big mountains, I am always in the minority.

What is your current role within the company?

I am self employed as a motivational speaker. I present mainly for corporate events and schools.

What is your background prior to working for this company/setting up your company?

I studied Psychology and Sports Biology at the university of the West of England. The year after I graduated I climbed Mount Everest for the first time at the age of 21, after returning home I set up my motivational speaking company. In 2017 I returned to Mount Everest but this time to climb it via the colder and more technical northern side. On the 16th May 2017 I reached the summit and became the Youngest woman in the world to climb Everest from both sides at the age of 26.

What makes your company and/or your role stand out?

Being a young woman climbing big mountains, I am always in the minority. But I believe this is what makes my presentations and events more interesting, especially for schools!

What is your area of expertise/inspiration?

Motivating and inspiring people of all ages to step out of their comfort zone

What are your plans for the future?

I want to grow my speaking business and share my story with more and more people around the world. I am also in the early stages of writing my first book. But one of the things I am most excited about over the next year is my work with the charity, The Polar Academy. I am currently training to become a polar guide for the charity and take young people from across Scotland on a life changing expedition to Greenland. My first one will be in April 2019 with some great students from Bathgate Academy.

What inspires or motivates you?

People who push themselves and achieve against the odds.
