What is your background prior to working for this company/setting up your company?
I am a Fashion Graduate from Cardonald Collage studying Garment Technology and attended Edinburgh College of Art to study Fashion Design.
After making bespoke garments for individual customers and having worked in a variety of posts from Design assistant, sales and admin I began working for Opus Couture in 2008 and have been manager of our main bridal salon since 2015.
What makes your company and/or your role stand out?
Opus Couture are an award winning independent bridal-wear retailer who specialise in supplying wedding gowns, bridesmaids gowns and accessories from the worlds leading bridal design houses along with a unique customer service experience that includes a full in-house fitting and alteration service.

With friendship, passion and expertise we provide an individual experience to capture the essence of our brides beautiful uniqueness on her wedding day.
We believe in our team and are committed to promoting an atmosphere for excellence, professionalism, expertise, passion and personal growth and development.
What is your area of expertise / inspiration?
At Opus we believe in building up women whether by supporting our team to reach their full potential and forge a career for them self or by building up our brides confidence and belief in her own individuality and uniqueness so she can “Be” beautiful on her wedding day.
Some of our brides can be vulnerable, nervous and insecure. They require someone who will really listen to what they have to say and offer an understanding of what they need. We strive to create a warm and friendly environment where our bride can be empowered to reveal her own beautiful uniqueness.
Our common goal is to make sure our bride is perfect on her wedding day and being able to deliver that requires trust that every aspect of the journey has the right person doing the job. Working in an environment where your talents are recognised and appreciated leads to a level of respect from your team and trust that you will always strive for excellence. We believe the best solutions always come from working together.
What are your plans for the future?
We offer a unique service at Opus where we take our bride on a journey, from picking her gown, through the fitting and alteration service and then onto the preparation of her gown for collection on the week of her wedding. The Opus Experience is part of her wedding preparation and we make sure it is stress free and filled with joy.
We have just launched our “Be Beautiful” campaign. We wanted our new campaign to reflect our mission and values so the every bride would know that when they come to Opus they will be greeted with warmth and kindness.
We know the decision to step through the doorway of a bridal boutique can be pretty intimidating, never mind the job of choosing what dress to wear on such a special day. It helps our brides to know that on the other side of the door at Opus Couture there is a team of people who are not only some of the most experienced and qualified but also the loveliest you’ll ever meet, our team is handpicked as much for their natural warmth and friendliness as their qualifications and skill.
Our future plans are to promote our campaign so every brides knows that they can come to Opus and we will empower them to be able to express their own individual uniqueness and “Be Beautiful” on their wedding day. .
What inspires or motivates you?
As a mother of three beautiful daughters and manager of a team of amazing young women I feel a responsibility to nurture, develop and help young women grow and realise their full potential.
Some of our brides can arrive at our door insecure and body conscious with no idea of the true and natural beauty they posses.
I know how much work our dedicated team put in to helping all our brides during their journey with Opus. So when I see one of our brides on her wedding day, full of confidence and revealing her true and natural beauty, knowing she has been empowered to “Be Beautiful”……it truly fills me with joy!
