Vicki is founder of ‘Reach for Autism’, a charity set up to break down the barriers surrounding autism and to help people reach their full potential. Vicki’s daughter has autism and there was no support or services within her community to help. When she was first given the building for REACH, it was used as a chemical lab. Months of decorating, plumbing, joinery and electrics later, it is a place many call home.
She has also set up a national training group on autism. They have so far trained the Scottish Parliament, Police Scotland, Scottish courts and justice, along with numerous teaching staff. They have also been awarded the Epic Award for Scotland in 2018 for their emotional and hard hitting drama performance. Vicki is very driven and her passion has just been awarded an MBE for ongoing commitment to making a change and a stand for autism.
