What is your background prior to working for this company or setting up your company?
Prior to setting up Yoga Warrior, I have built and led companies within the healthcare sector, focusing on chronic diseases such as heart failure and diabetes. I am also a senior Yoga Teacher with Yoga Scotland and qualified in Aerial and Forrest Yoga. Being a businesswomen, I am acutely aware of the relationship between stress and chronic disease and this is why I set up Yoga Warrior. I wanted to provide companies with a tool that they could use to encourage their staff to work in a healthier way.
What makes your company and/or your role stand out?
Yoga Warrior provides companies with a return on investment online wellness platform that can improve workplace health and productivity whilst decreasing staff absenteeism. The platform and content have been tailored for business which makes it unique and innovative.
Why did you apply, how did you find the process and the awards evening?
I applied for the Most Innovative Start-up award because I believe my business is unique and innovative. I am passionate about workplace health and wellbeing and the ABS awards process is very strict and thorough, so I wanted to push myself and the business by entering the ABS awards. The quality of the other businesses and the judging panel is incredible. I knew if I could make it to the final and have the ABS badge of honour associated with my company then this would be a great achievement.
The awards evening was incredible and really highlighted the support from all the ABS women. I am honoured to be a member of this incredible organisation and even more honoured to have my business as a winning company.
What are your plans for the future?
I will build on winning this award by using it to help me gain greater commercial traction and build the business so that I can employee people. I plan to raise investment to allow for the development of the next phase of the data analytics in the platform.
What inspires and motivates you?
I want to help people live healthier lives and provide them with a means of working in a healthier way. When I first set up my business, I was going it alone and then I found the ASB which has been an incredible support network for me. Being a member of the ASB has inspired me to keep pushing and striving for what I believe in.
