Claire Johnson CJ-Information Management Consulting

Information management is a prerequisite to regulatory compliance as well as good operational practice.

I provide businesses with proportionate solutions so that only information that has an ongoing value is retained, managed and made available over time. This means they are not only compliant with external obligations but effective in their use of resources including ICT infrastructure.

My advice is independent of proprietary technology solutions as I create bespoke, low-cost solutions which are scalable often utilising the existing technological infrastructure.

All organisations have the potential to collect vast amounts of data and information so can become swamped by decisions about how to control it. Typical problems might be: the scale, volume, or complexity of information in many locations and formats; how best to keep it accessible and organise it consistently; whether to retain it on paper or in digital systems; how best to manage it in order to exploit it for commercial advantage; as well as an array of issues relating to the right format (paper, digital, databases or proprietary systems) or digital migration between systems.

Whether information is held on paper or digitally retaining it unnecessarily can hamper efficiency and effectiveness, and in the case of personal data, this is in contravention of legal obligations under the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and GDPR.
