Award winning business woman seeking employment.
I like to think of myself as a 'can-do' person. I love finding ways to make things work, be they practically or creatively. There is something satisfying about connecting with people and helping them to find solutions to head-scratching issues. Or simply things they just haven't the time to tackle.
It's a theme which has underpinned every role I have ever had. Whether it's 26 years serving water companies, directly and indirectly, or in later self-employment roles. Even in some of my voluntary positions, my biggest successes have happened when I am fixing problems. For example, when lift maintenance threatened to derail an important charity fundraising event I was involved in, I took the lead in helping find a solution for the team. Moving it to another venue, communicating with ticket holders, supporters and sponsors to keep them on board, and, together, we delivered the whole event for less cost.
It's about working together to get things done and providing a great customer experience along the way.
And one thing working alone in my own business, for the last four years, has taught me is that I am happiest of all when I am part of a team.
Outside of work, I enjoy writing and wildlife photography (under the guise of Smith Wild Photo). So much so, my husband and I have created a wee enterprise, selling image based products, with prifits going towards two charities each year. Sometimes the two worlds collide and out pops a magazine article.
I have also recently started Latin and ballroom dance classes after 20 years away from them - it's a great way to get fit. And it's good brain exercise too, remembering the routines.
