The Media Studio

The Media Studio is something that means a great deal to me personally. I took over the running of the Studio after the passing of our dear friend Struan, and since then I have been determined to continue the legacy he helped build while also developing it for the future.

My aim is to make The Media Studio a welcoming, accessible creative space for the local community. I want children and young people to have opportunities to learn about film, animation, editing and digital media in a practical, hands-on way, building confidence as well as real creative skills. The Studio’s current programme reflects that focus, with dedicated animation and filmmaking activity for younger people alongside opportunities for emerging creatives to continue developing their work.

I also want to open the Studio up more as a co-working and creative space, where people can access laptops, editing facilities, media equipment and a supportive environment to work, create and collaborate. For me, it is important that people who may not have access to this kind of equipment or workspace elsewhere still have somewhere they can develop ideas and progress.

Alongside the community and youth work, I want The Media Studio to be a useful resource for local businesses. I support businesses with content creation, video, branding, social media, websites and digital skills, helping them navigate media in a way that feels practical and manageable.

Ultimately, I want to honour Struan’s legacy by keeping the Studio active, relevant and rooted in the community, while creating new opportunities for children, creatives and local businesses across Ayrshire.
