Julie’s life is a mix of custom homes, contractor accommodation, transformational travel, crafts that multiply when nobody’s looking, and trying to remember where she last left her glasses. She’s the founder of Strawberry Grange, a design-led custom build development in Aberdeen helping people create bespoke homes without the usual self-build nightmares. She also runs Caledonia Contractor Stays, providing accommodation for contractors working across Scotland’s major infrastructure and energy projects, essentially ensuring people in hi-vis have somewhere far nicer to stay than a Travelodge beside a roundabout. Then there’s Second Era Travel, her travel and coaching brand focused on helping people in midlife rediscover themselves, reconnect with life, and occasionally have an existential breakthrough over coffee in a beautiful European square. Away from work, Julie is “Nana” to Archie and Runa, a role she takes very seriously, particularly when it involves adventures, stories, snacks, or mild levels of spoiling. Home life also includes Molly, a Maltese dog with the gentleness of a cuddly toy and the bark of an overenthusiastic squeaky one, and Lola, a gloriously fluffy ragdoll cat who largely operates under the belief that she personally owns the furniture, the desktop, the house, and probably Julie herself. When she’s not juggling businesses, developments, blogs, strategy documents, or trying to persuade planners, lenders, contractors and algorithms to cooperate simultaneously, Julie can usually be found outdoors, wandering around Scotland with a coffee in hand, or knee-deep in some form of craft project that began as “just a quick idea” and somehow expanded into needing an entire dining table.
