Ayrshire Business Women

The ABW is an affiliate group of the Association of Scottish Businesswomen.

Ayrshire Business Women was founded in 1994 and is run by a committee of dedicated volunteers.

As professional women, we actively endorse the development of women in business and exchange ideas, opinions, experiences and opportunities between our members.

Over the last year, we reintroduced face-to-face meetings, which included formal and informal networking, a variety of speakers and charity fundraising events.

The Committee Members appointed in 2025 are set to engage members old and new, with a variety of new networking opportunities and lead ABW into its 31st year.

Any Business Woman currently working in Ayrshire can join the ABW for only £45.00

The President of Ayrshire Business Women, Karen Ross states “In 2023, ABW Committee is set to provide consistent, informative networking opportunities available to current and new members in the local area. We are looking forward to connecting members, businesses and supporting each other throughout the year ahead.”

A Scents of Scotland

A Scents of Scotland is a small, family-run retail business based in Ayrshire, founded by my husband and I over a decade ago with a simple but heartfelt mission: to make thoughtful gifting accessible, affordable, and proudly Scottish.

Rooted in our local community, we wanted to create a space where customers could find meaningful presents for birthdays, Christmas, and life’s special moments—without feeling skint for being kind. Our shop is a celebration of Scotland’s charm, humour, and heart - with a lovingly curated collection that brings the quirkier side of our culture to life. Our website expands on this with a wider range of items, catering to a global audience of Scottish enthusiasts everywhere from USA and Canada, to Australia, to Europe and beyond!

We carefully choose every item to evoke pride, fun, joy, connection, nostaligia, and Scottishness.

Our shelves are filled with:

  • Beautiful jewellery, handbags, purses, wallets, and scarves;
  • Handcrafted items and artwork that celebrate Scottish creativity;
  • Cultural keepsakes like kilt pins, brooches, hip flasks, and whisky glasses;
  • Home fragrance products, homewares, ornaments, cards, and gift bags.

And we proudly stock iconic Scottish brands including:

  • Harris Tweed, HeathergemsThe Sgian Dubh Company, Burns Crystal, Highland Soap Company, Ochil Fudge, Walkers Shortbread, and Weir’s Home Fragrance—our own signature brand, launched in 2025 and lovingly made in-house.

We also partner with local Ayrshire-based makers, including:

  • Gist Jewellery - uniquely crafted beaded jewellery of wood and glass
  • Viki Holland - master crafter of fine knitted products
